Cape Town City Coach, Benni McCarthy and Kaizer Chiefs’ Steve Komphela were seen embracing and chatting for a little while after last night’s match at the Cape Town Stadium.

McCarthy’s City was on a five games winning streak, which included three wins against the Absa Premiership champions Bidvest Wits until it was halted by a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Amakhosi.

When asked what the chat was about, McCarthy shared that Komphela was giving him advice on management and he appreciates it.

“Steve and I go a long way back. I was young when I was in Amsterdam and he was in Turkey. There is always that respect. He always used to give me advice when I was a player.

“I am a big supporter of Steve because of his experience. He is one of the most intelligent footballers we had in this country back in the days and now as a coach.

“Steve is a smart guy and he has always given me fantastic advice. We just exchanged a bit of words on his situation and him being happy for me on how things have been going.

“I am fresh in this game and he is a veteran, senior Pro, so any advice that I get whether I get beaten or I beat them, I appreciate.” McCarthy Said.

The Citizens next face McCarthy’s former club, Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium on Tuesday, 19 September 2017.
