Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that Mulomowandau Mathoho is leaving Kaizer Chiefs after eleven years with the club.
The 33-year-old “Tower” , as he is affectionately known, spent eleven years at Amakhosi after joining the club in July 2012 from Bloemfontein Celtic.
He was so determined to join Chiefs at the time that he refused to move to Mamelodi Sundowns after an agreement was already reached between Celtic, Sundowns and his agent. It was reported that his dad went as far as chasing Sundowns official away from his house when they went to convince him to change his mind.
Mathoho played 267 times (256 starts + 11 substitute appearances) in official matches for Chiefs, scoring 22 goals in 11 seasons.
Kaizer Chiefs Chairman, Dr Kaizer Motaung expressed excitement that Mathoho got to realize his dream of playing for Amakhosi.
“We are happy that the man from Tshiombo in Limpopo realised his dream of donning the Gold & Black jersey of the team he supported from childhood. It’s not everyone who realises this dream,” Dr Motaung told the club’s official website.
