Ma-Indies suffered their seventh conservative defeat after a 5-1 defeat to the University of Johannesburg (UJ) in the Hollywoodbets Super League on Saturday afternoon in Soweto.
The defeat leaves Ma-Indies rooted to the bottom of the log, and remain the only side without a single point to show for their efforts after seven games in the current season.
The University of Western Cape (UWC) scored a comfortable 3-1 win over First Touch Academy to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
The start of the game was delayed by 20 minutes after the visitors demanded to have eight paramedics before they could take to the field. UWC management had to scramble for students paramedics to make up the numbers demanded by First Touch.
Once the game started, the current top goal scorer, Fikile Ndlovu opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a tap in. This was her 10th goal of the season. Nelly Mamabolo added the second goal in the 28th minute before Sibulele Holweni made it 3-0 with 13 minutes left.
Lebogang Mamabolo pulled a goal back for First Touch in the dying seconds of the match, but it proved to be just a consolation goal as the referee blow the final whistle straight after to give the home side a 3-1 victory.
A solitary goal from Karabo Dhlamini was enough for current log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies to grab bragging rights in the Tshwane derby after a 1-0 win over Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). to maintain their unbeaten record.
The top three remain unchanged as Sundowns remain top of the table with 19 points after seven games. UWC stay second with 18 points from six games while UJ are in the third spot with 15 points.
