Steve Komphela has stepped down as Kaizer Chiefs coach with immediate effect.
Komphela’s resignation was announced by Chiefs’ football manager, Bobby Motaung straight after they lost 2-0 to Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup Semi-final on Saturday night.
Komphela joined Amakhosi at the start of the 2015/16 season and he leaves Chiefs without winning a single trophy.
Bobby Motaung said they could not allow the “situation” with fans to continue.
“We have to take responsibility and accept that we are faced with challenges. We cannot allow the situation to continue.
“We are worried about the safety of the players, the coach and supporters.” Bobby Motaung said.
Chiefs will make further announcements about the coaching situation in the next few days.
