Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows will continue their battle for supremacy in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge this weekend.
Sundowns were able to open a two-point gap at the top of the standings over Arrows after they edged out Bloemfontein Celtic last week to move to 24 points from 10 matches, Abafana Bes’thende managing only a point from their goalless draw against Jomo Cosmos.
Both teams are in action this Sunday, with Arrows facing Chippa United (second-from-bottom) at the Wolfson Stadium, while Sundowns are also away from home, facing Jomo Cosmos (eighth) at Olen Park.
Polokwane City, currently in fourth spot and just four points off the summit, will play sixth-placed University of Pretoria at Loftus Stadium, also on Sunday, as is the game between two sides that both lost last weekend – Free State Stars (10th) and Orlando Pirates (14th) at the Clarens Stadium.
There are three matches scheduled for Saturday. The club currently occupying third spot, Maritzburg United, are not in action this weekend as their match against Ajax Cape Town has been postponed as the club takes time off to recover from the tragic death last week of their midfielder, Mondli Cele.
Black Aces may be flying high in the Absa Premiership, but AmaZayoni find themselves marooned to the foot of the MDC table, with seven points from 10 games. Aces get the chance for some redemption when they square up to Kaizer Chiefs (11th) at Dobsonville, AmaKhosi just four points above the Mpumalanga outfit.
Saturday’s other Diski action involves a clash between Bloemfontein Celtic (12th) and Platinum Stars (10th) at Siwelele Park, Dikwena boosted by their 3-2 win over Pirates last week when captain Ruele Modise notched a brace, while SuperSport United (5th) take on Bidvest Wit (7th) at the Bidvest Wits Stadium.
