Riveiro “Optimistic” About Second Half OF The Season

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro is hopeful and confident that the Buccaneers will do better in the second half of the DStv premiership season compared to the first half.

Pirates have only managed to collect 19 points after 15 games, that’s eight behind second-placed SuperSport United and 18 points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Pirates suffered their 3rd successive DStv premiership loss after their 2-1 defeat to Cape Town City on Saturday evening but coach Riveiro believes his team is capable of winning all the remaining matches in the second half of the season.

“There are still 15 games to play. So, that’s a lot of points to play [for],” Riveiro told the media after their 2-1 defeat over the weekend.

“There’s no reason to think that we cannot win 15 games. I’m optimistic, I’m not stupid. I know how difficult is the challenge, but we go into every game with the intention to win.

“And let’s see in the end of the season where we all are, and we finish the season satisfied with our position on the table, with amount of points and with the football that we are trying to play.

“Obviously, we are not in the situation in terms of points that we would like to be, it goes without saying. None of us, players, coaches, fans, I’m sure.

“But, we have a clearer vision of the team that we want to be in the future [but] sometimes it takes a bit more time.

“But we are we are 100% sure about what we are doing, and we have no doubt that we will get there sooner than later.”

Pirates will have a chance to redeem themselves when they host Golden Arrows at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
