Following Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies’s emphatic 3-0 win over Sporting Club Casablanca to be crowned CAF Women’s Champions League champions, coach Jerry Tshabalala said he always tries to make his girls happy as happy players produce results.
Refilwe Tholakele, who finished the tournament as the Top Scorer with five goals scored two goals while Boitumelo Rabale, named the Best Player of the Tournament scored the other goal.
“When you see me happy, I try to rub it onto my players,” Tshabalala said.
“A happy player will always deliver results for the team. We want to continue performing well.
“Our next target is to aim for a (Women’s) Club World Cup and we hope that one day we will have the opportunity to represent Africa as the champions.”
Coach Tshabalala added that he was impressed with his girls for maintaining the intensity throughout the match.
“Honestly, I wasn’t expecting my girls to finish the game with the same intensity with which they began,” Tshabalala added.
“Somehow, they got even better as the game went on and had plenty of energy towards the end. It all boils down to our training sessions; we kept them light and not too demanding so they could recover as early as possible and that approach worked wonders for us.
