Goalless draw better for Pirates – Roger De Sa

Former Orlando Pirates coach, Roger De Sa says Pirates are better off taking a goalless draw to Tunisia for the second leg of their African Confederation Cup final against Étoile Sportive du Sahel than a win with a goal conceded.

De sa thinks and also knows that the Pirates coach, Eric Tinkler will know that the key factor in the home leg is not to concede a goal.

“Everybody talks about ‘we got to score, we got to score’, but I think not conceding is going to be a bigger issue. If you can take a 0-0 with you (to the second leg) it is a lot better than if you concede a goal and win the game still.” De Sa said.

“Go with the 0-0, because the way Pirates play, and the way those teams play at home, they open up a bit, Pirates can score. My view is, keep it tight, it could be a little bit boring at home, but keep it tight at the back.” De Sa added.

“if you can sneak a 1-0 win it is fantastic, 2-0, but the clean sheet is the key at home.” De Sa concluded
