Ajax Cape Town have confirmed the signing of Durban born defender, Abel Mabaso on a loan deal from Mamelodi Sundowns.
After appearing in 23 matches in the 2012/2013 season for Mamelodi Sundowns, Mabaso, although highly rated by Sundowns, spent successful seasons on loan to Mpumalanga Black Aces in the 2013/2014 season and at Maritzburg United in the 2014/2015 season where he played 26 and 28 games respectively.
Although only 24 years old, Mabaso’s PSL experience in the previous three seasons will be of huge benefit to Ajax and the technical team had no hesitation in bringing him on board.
“Abels’ enthusiasm and professionalism will without a doubt have a positive impact on the team, and joining the likes of SA U23 players Abbubaker Mobara and Bafana Bafana defender Rivaldo Coetzee in defence will boost our defensive options,” commented Ajax Cape Town CEO, Ari Efstathiou.
Mabaso commenced training with the team earlier today and instantly took a liking to the tempo and intensity of the training session.
