AmaZulu have announced the appointment of former Marumo Gallants coach Romain Khalid Folz as their new head coah with immediate effect in a contract that will run only until the end of the current season in June 2023.
The 32-year-old mentor started the season as Marumo Gallants’ head coach before he was “fired” in September 2022.
Ayanda Dlamini has been confirmed as Folz’s first assistant coach. Dlamini was AmaZulu’s head coach prior to the arrival of Benni McCarthy in December 2020. He has since been working with AmaZulu DStv Diski Chalenge side – as co-coach.
AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu has reiterated his promise of bringing back the glory days.
“I repeat my personal promise to our fans that I will do everything in my power to bring back the glory days at AmaZulu,” Zungu said in a statement released by the club on Sunday morning.
“We are championship material, there is no doubt about that. We can and will challenge for trophies both domestically and continentally.
“As the oldest club in the DStv Premiership, Usuthu is a heritage of South African football and therefore we must self-correct expeditiously whenever we hit snags.
