Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos believes that the biggest change from when he took over to now is the change in mentality of players who used to see a Bafana Bafana call up as a holiday.
Bafana Bafana had already qualified for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco prior to the last qualifying matches against Uganda and South Sudan. Broos’ boys still went all out and manage a 2-0 and 3-0 victories over Uganda and South Sudan respectively.
“The big achievement this team made is their mentality. When I started three years ago, I was sometimes very disappointed when I saw the training,” Broos said after the South Sudan match in Cape Town.
“I had a feeling that some of the players were coming to the national team to be on holiday. That was the feeling I had. The quality was always there.
“I saw good players but they didn’t have the right mentality.
“The fact that this team still played 90 minutes for 100% to be first in the group is the right mentality. I am very proud of this team and to be their coach.”
