Platinum Stars coach Roger De Sa says his team will give nothing less than 100 percent when they tackle Maritzburg United in the Telkom Knockout clash on Friday night at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
Coach De Sa says his team will not sacrifice their TKO match against Maritzburg to prioritize the league beside their worrying league position.
“If we are in the cup, we want to go all the way. You never enter the cup to say let’s just go to the semis or the quarters. In a cup competition, you want to go all the way and win the final.
“The cup at this stage is not as important as the league is for us but nonetheless we are professionals. We want to win every game we play in. A good cup run sometimes also helps your league form. We are not going to make drastic changes but we will be resting one or two key players we feel are a concern to us. We want to win still. We are not going there to play our second 11 or something like that. Not at all. We want to win. We want to keep that going to the league match.” De Sa said.
De Sa is aware of the dangers posed by his former club.
“Maritzburg are an exciting young team with a lot of good players that have made the mark this year. They are an exciting team to watch. They like to play a certain system but they are adaptable. They can change while the game is on. They do it well because they have personnel that change their positions pretty quickly. They also have the support. They are probably the best supported side in the league as far as home matches are concerned.” De Sa said.
