Thabiso Kutumela scored a first half brace to help Maritzburg United beat Bloemfontein Celtic 2-1 to claim their first win of the DStv Premiership season at Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Team of Choice started the game on the front creating couple of good chances in the opening six minutes. Tebogo Tlolane was the man tormenting Celtic defence with his first effort going over the bar before his second was saved by Celtic goalkeeper Sipho Chaine.
Maritzburg’s good start was rewarded in the 26th minute when Kutumela produced a good finish from a tight angle to make it 1-0.
Kutumela converted a Daylon Claasen won penalty in the 37th minute to make it 2-0 going into the break.
Celtic pulled a goal back in the 83rd minute through Victor Letsoalo after a mistake by Claasen who headed the ball straight to him inside the box trying to clear his lines. Maritzburg held on to collect their first win of the season.
