Richmond United, Mamelodi Sundowns and Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) were the big winners in the second week of the Hollywoodbets Super league after they each scored at least seven goals on their way to collect three points.
Richmond scored a comfortable 7-0 win over Limpopo side, First Touch FC at Merino Park stadium, De Aar on Saturday afternoon.
It must have been satisfying for Richmond to bounce back immediately after losing their opening game of the campaign against JVW by 10-2.
On Sunday, Sundowns and TUT were part of the triple header played at TUT stadium.
In the first game, UJ scored three goals on their way to a 3-1 win over Vasco Da Gama.
In the second game, Last season’s top goal scorer Andisiwe Mgcoyi helped herself to four goals as Mamelodi Sundowns scored the biggest win of the weekend when they hammered Golden Ladies 11-0.
Morifi opened the scoring for Sundowns inside the opening two minutes before two goals from Mgcoyi in the 8th and 17th minutes made it 3-0 inside the opening 20 minutes. Midfielder Maestro Thalea Smidt added the 4th goal with a thunderous strike from outside the box in the 21st minute before Rhoda Mulaudzi made it five a minute before half time and Mgcoyi got her hattrick on the stroke of halftime to make it 6-0 at the break.
Mgcoyi started the second half as she finished the 1st as she added her fourth goal within two minutes of the restart to me it 7-0. Miche Minnies scored her second of the campaign in the 53rd minute to make it 8-0. She went on to score another goal in the 69th minute to make it 11-0. In between her goals, Boitumelo Rabale and Melinda Kgadiete had scored in the 55th and 67th minutes respectively to make it 10-0.
In the last game of the day, the host TUT scored an entertaining 7-3 victory over the newcomers City Lads.
City Lads would have expected a different result after opening the scoring in the 17th minute through Nwabisa Kolisi, but TUT had other ideas.
TUT regrouped to score the next five goals through Busisiwe Ndimeni (30’, 45′), Koketso Tlailane, (33′), Chabane (42′), Marry Ntsweng (44′) to make it 5-1 at Halftime.
City Lads pulled a goal back through Andisiwe Ndesi’s penalty in the 72nd minute to make it 5-2 before Sethunya restored TUT’s four goals lead with a goal just three minutes later to make it 6-2.
Kolisi pulled another goal back with her second of the day in the 79th minute to make it 6-3 before Thato Letsoso converted a penalty with two minutes left to make the final score 7-3.
