Maritzburg United have confirmed that they have terminated the contracts of their Head Coach John Maduka and his entire back room staff with immediate effect.

This comes after Maduka could only manage just two victories in 13 DStv premiership games.  They drew five games and lost six leaving them rooted at the bottom of the log with 11 points.

Club Chairman, Mr Farook Kadodia thanked Maduka and his technical team for their efforts but said the technical team failed to improve the performance from last season hence the decision to fire them.

“The board have taken this decision after a review of performances and results from the beginning of the season to date,” Kadodia said.

“When we appointed John at the beginning of the season, the mandate and objective was to see an improvement in performances and results which however have not been achieved despite everyone’s best efforts and we believe that with the upcoming Fifa World Cup break, the timing is right to make these changes now.”

Maritzburg confirmed that the process of identifying and appointing a new Head Coach is underway and the club will make an announcement in due course.
