Maritzburg United have confirmed the appointment of Muhsin Ertugral as their new coach on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
Ertugral was unemployed after leaving National First Division side Ajax Cape Town in November 2018.
Maritzburg parted ways with Fadlu Davids after losing 1-0 to Telkom cup champions Baroka FC in their last match before Christmas break. Maritzburg are bottom of the Absa premiership with only 11 points after 14 matches.
Maritzburg chairman Farook Kadodia said Ertugral’s expertise when it comes to working with youngsters was key.
“His project will be to get us out of the relegation [zone] and then of course continue to build. His expertise is in promoting youth, so beyond saving relegation we are confident that we will see a lot of younger players promoted,” Kadodia said.
Ertugral will need to hit the ground running to get Maritzburg out of the relegation zone.
