Absa Premiership log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns have been confirmed as the Absa Premiership Q-Innovation Quarter Two (Q2) winners.
Premier Soccer League (PSL) acting Chief Executive, Mato Madlala congratulated Mamelodi Sundowns for claiming R1, 5 million in prize money thanks to their impressive form during this quarter.
It was their 2-0 victory against neighbours, SuperSport United during the ‘Tshwane Derby’ that sealed Q2 triumph for the “Brazilians”.
Mamelodi Sundowns won Q2 with 19 points from seven matches. They were followed by MP Black Aces in second place with 15 points having played the same number of games. All but two clubs have played full quota of seven matches in Q2. (Golden Arrows vs Maritzburg United fixture was postponed this past weekend.)
Madlala said: “We would like to congratulate Mamelodi Sundowns management, coaching staff, the players and the club supporters for this achievement. Their unbeaten run (from seven matches) makes them worthy winners of the Absa Premiership Quarter Two.”
