R1m, Festivities and a legacy initiative on the cards in TKO Final

With excitement for the 2018/19 Telkom Knockout (#TKO2018Final) bursting at the seams as giant killers Baroka FC hope to make history against Orlando Pirates, a cool R1 million in cash for supporters, a football legacy initiative and a carnival of festivities are on the cards for supporters of the beautiful game.

Telkom has announced a series of activities ahead of the final. These include the Z’khipha more Festival that will be held at the Young Romans Sports Grounds, Salamntu Street in Zwide on the 5th and 6th of December from 10am till 5pm. Members of the public will enjoy a family-friendly environment with some of Mzansi’s football legends, food stalls, kids’ corner with face painting and jumping castles as well as entertainment from local DJs.

“Perhaps one of the most important activities on the day is the TKO Ball Swop,” says Head of Sponsorship at Telkom Braam Wessels. “It is a TKO legacy initiative that allows fans, particularly young soccer players, to bring in their old soccer balls, regardless of their condition, and swop it for a brand new soccer ball from Telkom. We intend to swop about 1000 soccer balls per day as part of our commitment to ensuring football is used as a vessel to take children off the streets and also harness their talent to become great footballers one day. With our legends present on the day to assist with the Ball Swop, aspirant young footballers can only be inspired to chase their dreams.”

In addition to the festival, there will be activations at KwaNobuhle Mall, Uitenhage and Ziyabuya Mall Kwa Dwesi on Friday, 07th December from 10am till 5pm.

Fans have an opportunity to meet some of South Africa’s legends of football like Jerry Sikhosana, Phumudzo Manenzhe, Aaron Mokoena, Matthew Booth and Siphiwe Mkhonza, win spot prizes that include match day tickets, cash vouchers and other giveaways.

In being part of the true spirit of the game, fans can predict the final score by dialing *123# from any new or existing Telkom prepaid SIM card and, if their prediction is correct, they will get their Mo’nice purchase multiplied by the final score line. Football fans still have an opportunity to walk away with a staggering grand prize of R1 million as well as instant R3 000 cash giveaways and recharge givebacks also via *123#.

While the final match on Saturday, 08th December it is expected to be an intense emotional rollercoaster with end-to-end action on the day, Telkom’s Z’khipha more brand ambassador and one of South Africa’s hottest musicians, Kwesta, will calm things with a live performance with his band before the start of the match and at half time.
