It was about six month ago when John Comitis bought the status of Mpumalanga Black Aces and relocated the team to Cape Town. The aim, in the first season was to make sure that the team retain their Premier League status but six month later, Cape Town City are the champions of Telkom Knockout (TKO) and sitting on top of the Absa Premier League.

City were crowned 2016 TKO champions after beating SuperSport United 2-1 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane on Saturday evening.
City took the lead in the 13th minute when Aubrey Ngoma’s powerful left foot strike from the edge of the box gave the diving Reyaad Pieterse no chance.
SuperSport were not happy with the referee for ignoring what looked like a foul on Thuso Phala leading up to the goal.
SuperSport tried their best to find the equalizer before the break but City’s defence, led by Tsepo Gumede stood firm.
When the teams emerged from the dressing room, SuperSport were expected to play with some urgency but it was City who created numerous scoring opportunities withou taking any.
They were left to regret as Kingston Nkhatha pounced on the loose ball to make it 1-1 after City failed to clear a corner in the 71st minute.
However, the score was level for only two minutes as Ngoma turned provider when his cross was headed in by substitute, Judas Moseamedi.
Thabo Mnyamane had a chance later on to level matters, with a goal at his mercy and just needing to tap the ball in, Thamsanqa Mkhize produced some heroic defending to block the ball for corner.
Mkhize’s celebration after blocking Mnyamane’s goal bound attempt told us everything we needed to know about how much City wanted the trophy.
