University of the Western Cape (UWC) boost their squad with the signings of five new players, including a talented youngster from their development side RV United ahead of the 2024 season of the Hollywood Bets Super League.
Defender Relebogile Phala (24), aka “Cruncher” joins the club from AmaTuks where she captained the team that was crowned 2023 USSA Football Champions in the Women’s Section A.
Midfielder Nwabisa Qoba (21), affectionately known as “Pinky” joins from UWC’s Development Team, RV United. She is junior international having been previously called up to the U/17 National Team.
Ongeziwe Ndlangisa (29), popularly known as “Ongeh” joins the club from Durban Ladies Football Club. The midfielder was named in the USSA women football team that took part in World Cup Student Games in Taipei, China back in 2017, and USSA in the Summer Universiade World Cup Student Games in Napoli, Italy, 2019.
Youth international Ronnel Donnelly (20), also known as “Ronnie” hails is from KwaZulu-Natal and joins from Shooting Stars FC. She has 4 national caps at U/17 and U/20 respectively.
Defender Nolubabalo Sishuba (25), known as “Luba” returns to her home ground from the USA.
UWC kick-off their season with an away match against Copper Belts Ladies FC On Saturday at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
