Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane believes his team will “get better” if they become calm in critical moments.
Amakhosi suffered their third defeat in five matches of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season after losing 2-0 to Cape Town City on Tuesday night at the DHL stadium.
“We were rushing, if we can be a little bit calm and always wait for those moments, I think we can get better, those are the things we can work on as coaches, we have a team of youngsters, a team of few senior players that we want them to gel,” Zwane said in the post-match press conference at the DHL stadium.
“But it needs to happen quickly because the games are coming thick and fast. You can see our backline, we would like to get the combinations right. If you look at our first game at home against Maritzburg, the eleven we started with gave us hope but unfortunately we lost two players before the Sundowns game and we had to shuffle the team. Before we can into this game, we lost Yusuf [Maart to suspension], then now it looks like we might not have [Siyethemba] Sithebe for Sunday’s game.
“We need to get the chemistry right because when you try to fix one thing, then you find another problem elsewhere, and you have to bring in a new player and it takes time for him to understand. But it’s not a train smash, we have enough time to get it right. we’ll get there.”
Chiefs will be back in Cape Town on Sunday for their MTN8 quarter-final match against Stellenbosch at the Danie Craven Stadium. Kick-off is at 15:00
