Kaizer Chiefs are through to the first round of the CAF Champions League despite playing to a 0-0 draw against PWD Bameda of Cameroom in the second leg of the preliminary round at FNB stadium on Saturday night.
Amakhosi won the two-legged round 1-0 on aggregate after their 1-0 away win last week in Limbe, Cameroon. Their goal was scored by Mulomowandau Mathoho.
Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt expressed his disappointments with his team’s failure to convert chances.
“You cannot be missing chances that we get and the opportunities we get in front of goals.
“In all my 30 years of coaching, I’ve never seen anything like that.
“It’s disappointing, but you know the most important thing was to go through.
“In the first half, the score could have been whatever. We had so many opportunities.
“In the second half it was the same again, but we are not scoring. It has been a problem the whole season.
“You cannot expect to keep clean sheets every week if we are not scoring the goals with the chances we have.
“I’m disappointed because I expected a little bit more, but it is what it is.” Hunt said after the game.
Chiefs will welcome Angolan side Primero de Agosto in the first round of the CAF Champions League on 22/23 December at FNB Stadium. The return leg will be in Angola on 5/6 January.
