Edson Castillo Scored deep in stoppage time as Kaizer Chiefs came from behind to beat Cape Town City 2-1 in the MTN8 quarterfinals at Athlone Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Chiefs started the game the better side with Ashley Du Perez’s pace causing City problems but it was the Citizens that opened the scoring through Marc van Heerden’s headed goal in the 23rd minute.
Khanyisa Mayo had a glorious chance to make it two nil in the 34th minute, but skied his effort well over the bar from inside the box. Then, Ashley Du Preez immediately made him pay as he found an equalizer for the visitors eight minutes before half-time.
Just when the game seemed like it was going to extra time, Castillo scored a dramatic winner from a tight angle in the fourth minute of stoppage time to send Chiefs to the semis.
At the Peter Mokaba Stadium, Stellenbosch FC needed extra time to secure a 1-0 win over SuperSport United.
The goal came from Andre de Jong’s header in the 99th minute.
