Dzvukamanja Scores Last-Minute Winner As Pirates Bounce Back To Win Nedbank Cup

Terrence Dzvukamanja  scored a last minute winner as Orlando Pirates come from a goal down to beat Sekhukhune United 2-1 in the Nedbank cup final on Saturday night at Loftus Versfeld stadium.

Sekhukhune head coach Brendon Truter spent the whole week building up to the game talking about how his team was going to apply a defensive approach.

However, his team surprised many as it started the game on the front foot and took the lead in the 12th minute after Sibusiso Vilakazi capitalized on the hesitation between Tapelo Xoki and Nkosinathi Sibisi to poke home the opening goal of the Nedbank cup final.

Then, on the stroke of halftime, Victor Letsoalo unexplainably handled the ball inside the penalty box to hand Pirates a chance to level matters before halftime. Sekhukhune players and the technical team furious protested the decision, but to no avail.

Tapelo Xoki calmly converted the penalty to level matters at halftime.

With extra-time looming, Pirates caught Sekhukhune on transition, a long cross ball was well cushioned by Monnapule Saleng to set up Dzvukamanja who volleyed home what turned out to be the Nedbank cup championship winner deep into the referee’s added time.
