FC Cape Town has moved their fixture against Milano United AFC scheduled for Saturday 12 September 2015, to Philippi Stadium. Kick-off is at 15h00
The game originally scheduled to be played at the NNK Stadium has been moved to Philippi Stadium.
The Philippi Stadium currently has no “home” team as Milano United AFC, who have used this stadium as a home venue last season have since relocated to the Blue Downs Stadium.
Chippa United used the venue when they were based in Cape Town however they have since relocated to Port Elizabeth.
John Comitis, Director of FC Cape Town said, “FC Cape Town will play at Philippi Stadium on an ad-hoc basis as we seek a home venue that will provide the club with top quality amenities and a playing pitch that encourages quality football.
Philippi Stadium is a venue that we have identified as a possible home base as we seek to set down roots and build a foundation for the club within the community where we plan to set-up the Investec DreamPlay program via the 15 satellite clubs.
Investec DreamPlay is an inclusive programme that will link up with 15 community clubs to provide training, expertise and opportunity to develop youth to the highest level. The objective is to provide a direct platform for players to go from the streets of township football to clubs in Europe.
We call on the surrounding community to come and support FC Cape Town on Saturday, kick off is at 15h00 and entry is free.”
Philippi Stadium is based in the heart of the nearby township and was a practice venue and fan park for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa.
