Maritzburg United have terminated the contract of Eric Tinkler with immediate effect, the club announced on their official social media and website on Monday.
The club said the decision follows a poor run of results that dates back to last season and was carried into the current season.
The Team of Choice lost 1-0 to Black Leopards on Sunday afternoon and have not won in 11 games, with their last victory coming way back in March, prior to the coronavirus pandemic. They failed to win a match in the bio-bubble losing three and drawing three of their six matches.
Chairman Farook Kadodia the board took this difficult decision as results were not forthcoming.
“It has been an extremely disappointing start to the season and the results have not been forthcoming.
“The Board therefore took the decision to terminate the contract of the coach. We would like to wish him all the best in his future endeavours.” Kadodia said.
The club is currently in discussions over who will lead the team on an interim basis until a permanent appointment is made.
