Marc van Heerden, George Lebese, Oscarine Masuluke and Percy Tau are the first recipients of the Absa Premiership Goal of the Month award, in the exciting new monthly recognition awards for the best goal of the month.
Masuluke, the Baroka FC goalkeeper’s stunning bicycle kick strike on referees’ added on time against Orlando Pirates at the Peter Mokaba stadium, picked up the prize for November and became the first outfield player to win the award since the inception of the awards.
Chippa United fullback, Van Heerden, saw his long range strike against Baroka FC awarded the Absa Premiership Goal of the Month for August-September. Lebese’s brilliant solo effort run dribbling past the keeper and neatly finishing facing an open net against Ajax Cape Town in Durban picked up the October prize while Mamelodi Sundowns’ Tau was the December winner for his well-taken diving header in his club’s win over Free State Stars at Loftus stadium.
Each of the monthly goals were chosen as the best from the online votes by football supporters and the general public, who picked their favourite goals through the Premier Soccer League website.
Proud sponsors of the Absa Premiership, Absa, have rewarded football supporters that voted for the winning goals from August-September until December with the jersey of their favourite PSL club. The winning fans were chosen in a random draw after voting for their favourite goal.
Competition Winners: Supporters win prizes
Godfrey Mtsweni from Middleburg, won the prize for August-September (he won a Kaizer Chiefs jersey). Lungisani Hlatshwayo from Centurion was the recipient of his favourite club’s jersey Sundowns for voting in October. Sibongiseni Sokweba had his Sundowns jersey delivered in his hometown of East London for his participating in the voting for November shortlisted goals while Emalahleni-based Benton Mnisi, a Pirates fan, was the winner for December.

Each of the goals selected during the monthly voting will go towards the list of goals that will be voted for the Absa-lutely Goal of the Season at the end of the season.
Voting for the Absa Premiership Goal of the Month for February will close at midnight on Friday, 31 March 2017, and there were plenty of superb goals to choose from.
Football supporters and the general public can go to www.PSL.co.za and vote now. All the monthly goals are available on the PSL website for the public to vote for.
