Thanda Royal Zulu racked up another National First Division win, while there was a six goal Cape derby thriller at Athlone in Sunday’s two matches.
Thanda were 2-0 victors over Jomo Cosmos at the Umhlathuze Sports Complex on Sunday, thanks to goals from Siduduzo Dlamini and Jabulani Ncubeni.
The result sees Roger Sikhakhane’s side opening up a six point gap over fellow KZN side Royal Eagles at the top of the NFD standings.
Meanwhile at a scorching hot Athlone Stadium, Milano United made it three wins from their last four games when they beat FC Cape Town 4-2.
Bongile Booi and Dillan Solomons put Milano 2-0 up before Sekela Sithole struck a brace for the African Beasts to level the game at 2-2. But goals from Gert Barends and Gregory Roelf ensured the three points for the Kinnes.
On Saturday, there were wins for Royal Eagles, Mbombela United, Magesi FC and Black Leopards.
Witbank Spurs 1-1 Stellenbosch FC – Sinaba Stadium
Brent Adonis gave the Cape side the lead just before the break, but Sabelo Nyembe equalised in the second half for the Mpumalanga team.
Royal Eagles 2-1 University of Pretoria – Harry Gwala Stadium
Tuks scored first through Miguel Dias’ 37th goal, but a second half brace from Sedwyn George ensured maximum points for Eagles.
Mbombela United 1-0 Cape Town All Stars – Kanyamazane Stadium
A goal four minutes after half time by Bongani Ndlovu, following a Tshediso Patjie corner kick, gave the hosts all three points.
Magesi FC 3-2 AmaZulu – Old Peter Mokaba Stadium
Thorisho Mphyane struck twice to put the hosts 2-0 up, only for Siyabonga Nomvethe and Mabuthi Khenyeza to level the score at 2-2. But Mphyane made it a memorable afternoon when he secured his hat-trick and maximum points for the hosts.
Real Kings FC 1-2 Black Leopards – Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium
Lidoda Duvha netted in each half through Mwale Musonda and Phathutshedzo Nange before Mfanufuti Dlamini pulled a late goal back for the KZN side.
