Premier Soccer League (PSL) DC prosecutor Zola Majavu has provided an update on the case brought to the DC by Tshakuma Tsha Mandzivhandila (TTM) against fellow Venda based Venda Football Academy (VFA), in relation to the allegation that Athini Jodwana was improperly registered.
VFA signed the 29-year-old from the Western Cape based ABC Motsepe League side Zizwe United. Jodwana was alleged to have played in seven games, impacting a total of 11 points.
Majavu confirmed that TTM withdrew their case after they were presented with the evidence of the player’s registration records.
“The DC had an occasion to consider a complaint that was urgently lodged by Tshakuma Tsha Mandzivhandila against Venda Football Academy, with specific reference to a player, Athini Jodwana,” Majavu said.
“Based on the facilitation by myself as the prosecutor, having made available to both parties the official records of the league’s registration department, it became apparent that the information on which TTM based its complaint was inaccurate.
“They, themselves conceded that, and in the result, through their legal representative, the voluntarily and formally withdrew such complaint before the DC panel, and the DC confirmed such withdrawal on the record.”
“The DC confirmed such withdrawal on the record and for the avoidance of doubt.”
Majavu also confirmed that no open cases that could have an impact on Motsepe Foundation Championship ahead of the final round of fixtures.
“I specifically and emphatically confirm that there is no case currently on my desk, which could have such an effect.”
