The school won the provincial tournament hosted by Coca-Cola in conjunction with the South African Schools Football Association (SASFA), held at Idas Valley Sports Ground, Stellenbosch on Saturday after beating Mondale High School 3 – 1 in the final.

COPA Coca-Cola® is a global initiative that gives millions of young football fans the opportunity to come together and celebrate their passion for football, together with a chance to realize their greatest potential by living an active healthy lifestyle.

The South African initiative is all about finding the best Under-15 school team, as well as the most promising Under-15 talent in the country by playing it out with level-by-level knockouts.

Additionally, COPA Coca-Cola® has added a new innovation to the 2015 edition of the tournament through the new ‘Which Part Will You Play’ initiative. In recognizing that every footballer plays an important role in their team beyond football skills, Coca-Cola will be selecting an invitational side, which will compete in the COPA Coca-Cola® National Finals, comprising of 11 individual ‘characters,’ each themed around the key components which make up a successful football team.

This week, Jason Couter, a goalkeeper from Mondale High School was selected to join the invitational side after being identified as The Rock following a string of brilliant saves he made to keep his team in the final.

Couter will join the 10 other character selectees at the COPA Coca-Cola® National Finals scheduled for 26–28 September 2015.

“After being told we are playing the round robin format, I knew that I had to give my best performance. I therefore did my best to keep our dream to reach the finals alive and that resulted in me receiving the best news.” said Couter

“To be honoured by someone like David Nyathi is privilege, I look forward to the national experience.” he added
