Mamelodi Sundowns fullback Thapelo Morena says the team is very tired because of the busy schedule but will continue to do their very best to ensure that they deliver when they hosts Moroka Swallows in the DStv premiership on Wednesday at Loftus Versfeld Stadium at 19:30.
Masandawana’s clash against Swallows will be their 29th match of the season in all competitions. Although this will only be their 13th league game, they have been involved in the MTN8, Carling knockout Cup, CAF Champions League and African Football League.
Morena believes the team will deliver despite their hectic schedule that saw the players spending just one day with family over the Christmas period.
“It [preparations for Swallows] is a bit of a difficult one but we are professionals, we know how it is,” Morena said.
“It is second day after the game [against Cape Town City], and in Christmas mode, also tired from travelling and playing games but preparations are going very well, we just need to focus on the Swallows game and make sure that we deliver.
“It is going to be a very interesting one. A very difficult one. The most important aspect will be the energy and the aggression because it is also a second day from their last game. We might have a very difficult one in terms of energy but we are going to make sure we give our level best.
“It is going to be a great game because all-in-all we want to win. We going to do our best on the pitch and deliver what we have to deliver. We have done our homework on Swallows, know their strength and also where we can punish them.
“Even though we are tired, the most important thing is the recovery that we do, the time we spent on the pitch and doing video analysis helps us deliver. Tomorrow is going to be our 29th game in five months, it is a whole season on its own.”
Morena implored the Masandawana supporters to come to the stadium as they provide the team with much needed energy.
“Masandawana, please come to the Loftus Versveld stadium and fill the stands. You know you are our best coaches and people to cheer us. We are going to do it for you, ka bo yellow!
