Ajax Cape Town have been relegated to the National First Division (NFD) after being found guilty of playing an ineligible player in Tendai Ndoro and being docked seven points gained for matches against Platinum Stars, Polokwane City and Supersport United.
Ajax beat Stars, SuperSport United and drawn with Polokwane City but both teams have since been awarded 3-0 wins for these games by the Arbitrator William Mokhari.
Stars will now replace Ajax in the Promotio/relegation play-offs and will face Black Leopards in the 1st game on Wednesday, 16 May 2018.
However, the play-offs might not even go ahead yet as Ajax have announced, through their official Twitter account, intention to appeal the ruling and interdict the play-offs.
“Ajax Cape Town are currently consulting with their legal team regarding William Mokhari SC’s arbitration ruling released this morning.
The club is in the process of preparing papers to be filed urgently before the High Court in Johannesburg for the matter to be heard tomorrow morning at 10 am.
Amongst other issues, the club will seek to interdict the promotion play-offs from commencing on Wednesday 16th May at 3 pm. This will be sought pending an urgent review of the arbitrator’s award this morning,” Ajax Twitted.
