Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker says his players must remain calm, and humble, and put in a big performance to reach the final instead of thinking about the final before playing the semi-final against Sekhukhune United.
Should Stellies advance to the final, they will take on Orlando Pirates, who defeated Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 in the other semi-final played on Saturday afternoon.
“It is important that we do not overhype, and overstate the importance, and meaning of getting into a final to a point that we forget to play the game on Sunday,” Barker said.
“I think the players understand that. I have had this thing with the players since the Start of the Nedbank Cup, I said to them, guys I am going to say this before we play each Nedbank Cup game until there is only one to go.
“Before we played Swallows, I said five to go, then it was four to go, three to go. This time around, the message will be, it is not one to go but two to go.”
Barker also expressed his excitement at the prospect of reaching the Nedbank Final.
“For us as a football club, in our short existence, to have this opportunity and be on the verge of making a final is exciting, and it would be a massive achievement, not only for the team but also for the town, for the community, for our supporters and for South African football in general.
