Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies side have been drawn in Group A of the inaugural CAF Women’s Championship League Southern Africa zone qualifiers in a draw that took place on Thursday, 29 July at COSAFA House.
The Hollywoodbets Super League leaders have been drawn alongside Lesotho Defence Force of Lesotho, Double Action Ladies from Botswana, and Manzini Wanderers from Eswatini.
The 2021 edition will be played in zonal qualifiers in each zone and a final phase in Egypt later this year.
Masandawana Ladies Coach Jerry Tshabalala says the girls are looking forward to playing in the champions league.
“I believe the girls are looking forward to this one. We have been given a chance to go out there to showcase our talent as Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and to see if we can’t emulate our men’s team to bring the star back home. Tshabalala said.
“What we just need to do is to go out there and win our group. By winning our group it gives us a fair chance to be able to put one foot into Cairo.”
The qualifiers will be played from August 26 to September 4.
