Having already surprised two other PSL teams in Amazulu and Polokwane City, Ubuntu will be confident of advancing to the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup in the 1st season of existence.

The Nedbank Cup offers a much desired distraction from the difficult life in the National First Division (NFD) and also gives an incredible opportunity to Ubuntu’s youngsters to make their mark on South African football.

Ubuntu fielded eight Under-23 players when they defeated AmaZulu 3-2 in the Nedbank Cup last 16.

Players like Jesse Donn, who has been a part of the Ubuntu Academy as a youngster for almost his entire footballing career, was instrumental in the Round of 16 in Durban. Another player who put in an incredible display against Amazulu was the eventual Man of the Match – on-loan playmaker, Kamo Mahlatsi.

Coach Casey Prince will go into the game with one eye on the NFD fixture against Real Kings couple of days later.

“We will definitely be keeping an eye on our fixture against Real Kings next Tuesday,” Prince told media at the club’s inaugural media day.

“We want to continue this incredible dream run but we also need to be realistic. The NFD league is wide open and a mistake by any team from 11th spot to the bottom may cost them their status.

“We’ve got an incredible squad and I have faith in every one of the players. Who we put out on Saturday will depend a lot on the moment and what we feel closer to the game.” Prince Said.
