AmaZulu named Benni McCarthy as their new coach in a press conference on Monday.
The 43-year old replaces Ayanda Dlamini who resigned a week ago after a lackluster start to the season, winning only one of the six games in the DStv premiership. Dlamini has since been redeployed to the development structure.
McCarthy says he did not need much convincing to join such an ambitious club.
”The chairman didn’t need to convince me to want to be involved with this club. When somebody speaks to you about wanting to change football players lives at this moment but the ones to come – the future.
”How can I not want to be a part of such a club that has those aspirations.
“We are aiming to make AmaZulu one of the top teams in the country to compete with the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns, likes of Orlando Pirates who has just won their first trophy since I was still there as a player and the likes Kaizer Chiefs.” McCarthy said.
Benni’s first game for Usuthu will be a DStv premiership clash against KZN neighbors Golden Arrows on Wednesday at 19:30.
