JVW FC and Mamelodi Sundowns scored big wins over Tsunani Queens and Richmond United respectively in the Hollywoodbets Super league (HSL) on Saturday.
JVW Captain, Nompumelelo “Mpumi” Nyandeni scored a brace as JVW stroll to an impressive 7-0 victory over Tsunami queens at Tsakane stadium. Tsunami suffered another heavy defeat after Sundowns handed them an 8-0 defeat in the last round.
Nyandeni opened the scoring in the 20th minute finishing a cross from Indira Albuquerque. Five minutes later, Nomathemba Ntsibande made it 2-0 with a header from Gabriela Salgado’s corner.
Then, JVW scored two quick goals on the stroke of halftime with Nyandeni making it 3-0 in the 44th minute for her brace before Mamello Makhabane scored in the 45th minute to give JVW a well-deserved 4-0 lead at halftime.
JVW continued their dominance in the second half and were rewarded with three further goals through Robyn Moodaly in the 77th minute and Jade Leask two minutes later before Sandisiwe Nohayi scored on the stroke of fulltime to make it 7-0.
At Groenkloof stadium, Andisiwe Mgcoyi continued her rich scoring form as Sundowns beat Richmond United 5-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Melinda Kgadiete scored the opening goal in the 14th minute before Lerato Kgasago converted a penalty in the 28th minute to make it 2-0. Kgadiete completed her brace when she made it 3-0 with 10 minutes left before the break.
Then, it was Mgcoyi’s turn as she made it 4-0 a minute later before completing her brace in the 52nd minute to make it 5-0.
Richmond scored their consolation goal in the 68th minutes through a penalty converted by Malebogo Shawe.
At Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium, the match between Bloemfontein Celtic and Coal City Wizards was postponed due to bad weather.
On Sunday, Ma-indies were held to a 1-1 draw by Thunderbirds at Giyani stadium.
