Mamelodi Sundowns have signed Supersport United midfielder Sipho Mbule on a 3-year contract effective from 1 July 2022.
Mbule joined SuperSport academy in the 2015/16 season from Virginia (Harmony) Sports Academy and went on to play just under 100 games for Matsatsantsa.
He won the SuperSport United Player’s Player of the season in 2019/20 season.
SuperSport United FC CEO Stan Matthews said they tried everything to keep Mbule.
“We are sorry to be losing a gifted player like Sipho, especially at his age where his best is yet to come,” Matthews said.
“We tried all avenues to turn things around with Sipho, but in recent months it became clear that his heart and mind is not at our club and that it was best for us to part ways.”
The 24-year-old becomes the latest player from Matsatsantsa to join Masandawana after the likes of Hlompho Kekana, Dennis Onyango, Anthony Laffor, Grant Kekana, Aubrey Modiba and Teboho Mokoena, just to name a few, moved across town to join their archrivals.
