MDC back this weekend!

If season one and two crowd attendances at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi are anything to go by, MultiChoice Diski Challenge champions, Lamontville Golden Arrows, will be spurred on by a raucous and partisan home crowd as they launch their title defence.

imageSeason three of the MDC (the PSL Reserve League) officially gets underway this weekend at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban with Arrows facing Bloemfontein Celtic in the season opener. The first match kick-off at 10h00 on Saturday.

Over the past two seasons the MDC has become an integral part of South African football, bridging the gap between academy and professional football. Graduates from the many academies across the country have found a platform in the MDC to launch their professional careers. Players like Emmanuel Letlotlo, Judas Moseamedi, Khayelihle Shozi, Jodie February, Nduduzo Sibiya and many others have grabbed the opportunity offered by the MDC with both hands, and are now first team players.

“The MultiChoice Diski Challenge has grown tremendously over the last two seasons, commented MultiChoice’s General Manager of Corporate Affairs Jackie Rakitla.”
“In the next season, we hope to continue to make this competition an exciting development platform for young football players and production interns. We will also take the competition to other areas so that more and more people can get access to football matches on weekends.”

“This year MDC will launch a fan competition offering exciting prizes including a trip to the Netherlands accompanying the winning team. Full details of the competition will be communicated on SuperSport 4 and SuperSport Select.”

As with previous seasons, entrance to all MDC matches is free. Tickets are now available at all TicketPro outlets in KZN.
Upon producing your green bar-coded South African identity document, you will be issued two tickets per person.

Arrows and Celtic get the season underway at 10h00 on Saturday followed immediately by Bidvest Wits against Kaizer Chiefs at 12h00.

On Sunday, Maritzburg United and Highlands Park start proceedings at 10h00 with the match of the weekend, last season’s runners-up Mamelodi Sundowns against Orlando Pirates, closing out proceedings at noon.

The rest of the teams will also be in action at various locations around the country.
