A solitary goal from the veteran, Siyabonga Nomvethe was enough for AmaZulu to beat Cape Town All Stars 1-0 and maintain their 100 percent record.
Usuthu made it two wins from two matches after edging out Igugu Lekapa in a tight game at Parow Park.
Igugu Lekapa were the better side in the opening minutes of the first half without creating much scoring opportunities. Their striker, Waseem Isaacs was often found isolated.
However, AmaZulu ended the half strongly, and took the lead just before the break when Nomvethe out-jumped the home-side defence on the stroke of halftime to score with a clinical header from Zola Jingxi cross.
Usuthu had a chance to make it 2-0 in 59th minute but Mabhuti Khenyeza’s attempt came off the crossbar and back into play.
Igugu Lekapa tried everything to get the equalizer but failed to bridge the Usuthu defence that was well marshaled by captain, Tapelo Nyongo.
AmaZulu Head Coach Joey Antipas was happy with their solid performance away from home.
“We put up a sterling performance, tactically we were well sound and organised, especially in the second half. We knew they were going to put pressure on us and we were well disciplined” Antipas Said.
“We resorted to long balls in the second half but the main thing was our organization.
“We snuffed them out, tried to hit them on the counter but unfortunately we didn’t get the second goal but I’m very much chuffed about our solid performance.” Antipas concluded
