Stellenbosch FC have been forced to host their Nedbank Cup quarterfinal home fixture against Kaizer Chiefs away at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Gqeberha.

Stellies could not host the match at Athlone Stadium due to a rugby tournament at the venue, whilst the neighbouring DHL Stadium is hosting the Cape Town Cycle Tour Expo.

The Club’s home stadium, Danie Craven Stadium, remains unavailable due to historical security concerns surrounding the fixture between Stellenbosch FC and Kaizer Chiefs.

Stellenbosch FC could have hosted the match at Athlone Stadium if it had been scheduled for Sunday, 9 March.

To make this possible, Stellenbosch requested the league to reschedule their Betway Premiership fixture against Pirates on Tuesday, 11 March 2025, to Wednesday because, according to FIFA rules, there needs to be two full days between matches.

However, the club’s request to reschedule this league fixture by one day, in order to allow the Club to host the Nedbank Cup quarter-final at home on Sunday, was rejected by both the PSL and Orlando Pirates.

As a result, the PSL has decided to host the match at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, 8 March 2025 at 18h00.
