Mamelodi Sundowns have announced the appointment of Mathias Zangenberg as the Head of Physical Performance.
The recently crowned 2022/23 DSTV Premiership Champions confirmed that Zangenberg will work across the club to align the methodology of physical training of the Senior Team, Ladies Team and Academy teams.
Zangenberg, who is a UEFA A-license holder has worked as a physical and conditioning coach for over 15 years. He also has a Masters Degree specializing in human physiology from the University of Copenhagen.
He worked for some major Denmark Superliga sides including FC Nordsjælland and has gained invaluable experience from the team’s participation in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.
Sundowns’ Sporting Director, Flemming Berg believes Mathias’ experience will propel Sundowns to the next level.
“His knowledge, experience and work ethic will assist in getting the first team to the next level and to make a clear strategy for physical training and injury prevention throughout the entire club,” Berg said.
Before joining Masandawana, Mathias worked for AGF Fodbold, and was recently part of Ghana national team at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
