Platinum Stars defender Siyabonga Zulu has called for drastic improvements from his teammates if they are to start winning games and move away from the danger zone of the Absa Premiership table.
“There’s no other way to get out of the situation we are in except to work hard and work together. Everyone has to give 150%. We will go forward. We have quality that shouldn’t be at the bottom,” Zulu said.
“We have too many good players in the team. If the attitude can be right then we will move out of there. Sometimes our attitude is not okay because someone is thinking their own things and they are not doing things the way they should. It starts from training before we go to the game. You have to be 100% tuned in. You can’t prepare for a game from Thursday thinking you will perform on Saturday. From Monday to Friday you have to perform.”
Dikwena are currently at the bottom of the Absa Premiership with seven points after 10 matches – one win, four draws and five losses.
Zulu believes a change of attitude and efforts in commitment can work for the team.
“If we can have one attitude and one mind of going forward with football and what we want to do with the team in terms of whether we want to win something or what. If we can have the right mind together as a team, I think we will go far,” said Zulu.
Zulu is also keen to raise his own game as he feels he is not yet at his best.
“In terms of my performance, I think am yet there. Maybe I am 84% but I want to give 100% and maybe the team will go far. I want to improve in attack. I want to go forward a lot. I want to improve my crossing. If you look at left backs like Marcelo, Jodi Alba, Alaba they do well in attack. They also score,” Zulu added.
Stars’ next game is at home to Bloemfontein Celtic on 22 November 2017.
