When Reneilwe “Yeye” Letsholonyane failed to renew his contract with Kaizer Chiefs at the end of last season, and instead decided to join SuperSport United, many of us wrote him off as a player who has past his sell by date.
But in joining SuperSport, Yeye was to reunite with his former coach at Chiefs, Stuart Baxter.
Yeye arguably played his best football under Baxter and according to his former coach, he is showing enthusiasm of a 15-year-old in training.
“There is a great appetite in Yeye. We would not have brought him to SuperSport if we did not think he still has appetite for the game. Baxter Said.
“Sir Alex Ferguson used to say when his players are threatening to go past their sell by date, he used to ask himself two questions. Is he still enthusiastic and is he still physically capable of doing it.
“If you ask that of Yeye, he is very enthusiastic. He is like a 15-year-old in training.”
Baxter added that it helps that Yeye is taking care of himself.
“He is taking care of himself and we are trying to manage him well. He is enjoying his football gain.” Baxter concluded.
Letsholonyane joined SuperSport at the beginning of the season on a two-year contract after ending his eight-year stay at Amakhosi.
