University of the Western Cape (UWC) regain the advantage in the Hollywoodbets Super League title race after Mamelodi Sundowns were held to a 1-1 draw by Thunderbirds Ladies at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in East London on Saturday.
Jerry Tshabalala’s side were frustrated by Thunderbirds ladies in the first half before Melinda Kgadiete scored the game’s opening goal in the 58th minute with a looping header over the keeper.
However, the lead only lasted nine minutes as the home side found the equalizer in the 67th minute.
With the draw, Sundowns dropped to the second spot with 38 points from 15 games.
Kholosa Biyana netted the only goal of the game as UWC narrowly beat Durban Ladies 1-0 at the Sugar Ray Xulu stadium.
With Sundowns drawing, UWC regained the top spot on the Hollywoodbets Super League log with 39 points at the halfway mark of 2022/2023 season.
