Mamelodi Sundowns maintained their perfect start to the Hollywoodbets Super League season with a comfortable 2-0 win over the University of Johannesburg (UJ) at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Banyana Ba Style took control of the game from kickoff and it was no surprise when Chuene Morifi opened the scoring in the eighth minute before Cimone Sauls added the second goal just four minutes later. This was Sauls’ first goal for her new team since joining from JVW.
Lerato Kgasago believes breaking down UJ’s resistance early was key for the victory.
“We were aware of their confidence coming into this game and I am pleased with how we managed to break down their resistance early on,” Kgasago told the club media after the match.
“I am delighted to have played an hour of football and to be back fully fit. Collectively, the result is fantastic; we have simply continued from where we left off last time. We are all looking forward to the next game.”
