Mokwena signs New Sundowns Contract Until 2027

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has agreed a new 4-year contract until 2027.

The former club co-coach was appointed the head coach of the team in October 2022 in a move that relegated his co-coach at the time, Manqoba Mngqithi to an assistant role.

After leading Sundowns to a DStv premiership championship and CAF Champions league semi-finals, Mokwena has been rewarded with a new lucrative four-year contract.

Coach Mokwena said he extended his contract as there is still much more to be achieved at the club.

“I think that there is still more to be done and achieved,” Mokwena told the club’s official website.

“Because of those sentiments, I felt the need to put myself at service for this incredible institution once more – to assist in achieving more success and winning more trophies.

“The love and warmth I receive from the supporters fills me with pride. As a servant of this football club, tasked with a big responsibility of leading this institution and considering that there is many of the The Yellow Nation that serve the Football Club selflessly, in this moment where I feel the privilege, I thank the supporters for making me feel appreciated.”

The team will return for pre-season on Wednesday, 28 June 2023 to prepare for the upcoming season.
