The University of the Western Cape (UWC) Ladies have confirmed the signing of 11 players in preparation for the 2022 Hollywoodbets Super League.

UWC will be hoping their new signings will help them improve from their third finish in the league last season.

They have also announce the appointment of coach Leah Sweetness Masango as assistant to head coach Thinasonke Mbuli as well as former player, Kayla Richards as a full-time physiotherapist.

The new players includes Banyana Banyana players in Ntombifikile Ndlovu from Sunflower WFC, Lonathemba Mhlongo from Durban Ladies and Philisa Mjambane from Thunderbirds Ladies, U17 star forward Oyisa Marhasi from Eluhewini Ladies, U20 Goalkeeper Robyn Coetzee from Wits and Lindokuhle Gladile from RV United.

The rest of the new UWC Ladies players are Akholiwe Matsotsi, Katlego Mabuza, Keylon Pietersen, Sihle Dlamini and Unathi Simanyile

UWC Sports Director, Mandla Gagayi believes the new signings will help his team to be the next league champions.

“We learned some valuable lessons last season. It wasn’t nice for us to postpone matches because we had four call-ups to the South African national team. It is our intention to win the Hollywoodbets Super League this season. Now we want to be in a space where even if we have several players in the national team, we’ll have competitive players that will go and win matches for us.” Gagayi said.
