Banyana Banyana have been drawn in Group G along with Sweden, Italy and Argentina at Saturday’s 2023 Women’s World Cup draw in Auckland, New Zealand.
Banyana qualified as the champions of Africa after beating Morocco 2-1 in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final. This will be Banyana’s second appearance at the World Cup level after qualifying for the France FIFA showpiece back in 2019.
Banyana coach Desiree Ellis believes they have got a reasonable draw.
“I think all the group are tough but it is a reasonable draw,” Ellis said after the draw.
“We have played Sweden before, obviously not Italy or Argentina. It could have been a tougher one [draw], so we are happy with it.”
