2016 Carling Black Label Champion Cup Starting XI revealed

The long awaited starting eleven line up for both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates were revealed on 27 July 2016 by the Match Day champion coaches Phumlani Mahlangu and Sifiso Ndlovu, this after an engaging Carling Black Label Champion Cup campaign.

The Champion Coaches will have their dreams come true on 30 July at FNB stadium when they experience the teams they have chosen battle it out for the momentous Carling Black Label Champion Cup trophy.

With the line-ups complete, the teams can begin their final preparations in earnest for the Derby day clash. The match will be played at a sold-out FNB Stadium and watched by millions more at home as well as at the Durban Fan park that will be at the Sahara Stadium, Kingsmead, all hoping to see their selected side to victory.

The Match Day Champion Coaches Philani Ndlovu of kaizer Chiefs and Sifiso Mahlangu of Orlando Pirates will enjoy a once in a lifetime match-day experience which includes joining the teams in their build-up preparation, being in the dressing-room with the team and sitting in the dugout during the game.

Young Brighton Mhlongo will be in goals for Orlando Pirates, behind a back four of Happy Jele, Ayanda Gcaba, Edwin Gyimah and Thabo Matlaba.

The Buccaneers midfield will see Oupa Manyisa, Thabo Rakhale, Mpho Makola and Issa Sarr in what will be a hotly contested area of the match.

Up front the team will be led by the teams most voted for Orlando Pirates player Tendai Ndoro alongside Thamsangqa Gabuza.

Kaizer Chiefs will have the Carling Black Label Champion Cup most voted for player Itumeleng Khune as their goalkeeper.

The AmaKhosi defense will have Eric Mathoho, Tsepo Masilela, Lorenzo Gordinho and Kgotso Moleko guarding their goalkeeper.

In midfield they will have George Lebese, no-nonsense defensive midfielder Willard Katsande, crowd favourite Hendrick Ekstein and completed by George Maluleka.

The two Chiefs strikers will be Bernard Parker and WilliamTwala.

The 2016 Carling Black Label Champion Cup will be played over 90 minutes (two halves of 45 minutes each). If the score is level at the final whistle, the winning team will be determined via penalty shoot-out as no extra-time will be The fan participation does not end with the selection of the line-ups they will also be voting for the first substitution which will be made in the 60th minute, deciding who they would like to bring on from the bench.

Champion Coaches should remember that they are eligible to make substitutions on match day by voting for the player they would like to introduce after 60 minutes. Substitution voting is open all through the opening 45 minutes of the game and fans can make their selection by sending an SMS with the jersey number of the player they would like to see come off the bench to the following numbers:

Meanwhile, the line-up for the entertainment on match day is a real treat for fans who will come to the sold out venue, with some of South Africa’s top acts set to strut their stuff. Kings Of The Weekend DJ Naves and Sphectacular joined by Professor will perform before the match starts. In addition, Soweto’s Finest will provide a master showpiece.

Gates at the FNB Stadium will open at 11:30 on match day ahead of the 15:30 kick-off.
